Your
First Visit
Welcome!
We would love to have you come and be part of our community. We
worship at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday morning. Toddler care is provided;
pre-elementary children are with us for the beginning of worship.
Following worship is fellowship in Pilgrim Hall with coffee and
treats, hosted by one of the parishioners. Church school for elementary
children through youth begins at 11:15; adult education at 11:30.
Both conclude at 12:15. Most education programs are on hiatus
in the summer.
Our
church life extends beyond Sundays. Members are involved in the
wider community in a variety of ways. First Church activities
include cleaning up the environment, marching for GLBT Pride,
walking for hunger, book clubs, a yearly trip to Guatemala, and
volunteering at local shelters. Together we can make a difference!
The
church is located at 500 8th Avenue SE, very close to the University
of Minnesota and Dinkytown. We are located one block north of
4th Street SE, and one block west of Interstate 35W.
Directions
From the south, go NORTH on 35W. Exit at the 4th Street SE/University
Avenue exit. Watch for the overhead sign for 4th Street. Go straight
through the first stoplight to the next stoplight. This is 4th
Street. Take a LEFT. After going through one traffic light, turn
RIGHT onto 8th Avenue. There is a Santana food store on the corner.
Go one block on 8th, and you will see the church on your right.
From
the north, go SOUTH on 35W, and take the 4th Street SE exit. Proceed
to top of ramp, and take a RIGHT onto 4th. Take your next immediate
RIGHT onto 8th Avenue. There is a Santana's Foods on the corner.
Go one block, and you will see the church on your right.
From
St. Paul, take I-94 WEST to the Huron Boulevard exit. Follow Huron
through a few bends (it becomes 4th Street SE) and through Dinkytown.
One block after crossing over 35W, turn RIGHT onto 8th Avenue
SE. There is a Santana's Foods on the corner. Go one block, and
you will see the church on your right.
From
downtown Minneapolis, cross the river on either the Hennepin Avenue
or 3rd Avenue bridges. Turn RIGHT onto University Avenue. At 8th
Avenue SE, turn LEFT. The church is 2 blocks ahead of you on the
right.
We
have no parking lot, so we rely heavily on on-street parking.
In
the winter, we provide free valet parking. Drive to the main door
on the 8th Avenue side and look for the brightly colored sign.
Accessibility
Wheelchair access is via an entrance on the 5th Street side near
the alley. Inside that door there is an elevator to the sanctuary.
As noted above, we also provide valet service in the winter months,
and we would be glad to help you at any other time should you

Hearing-assistance
devices are available during worship services for those with hearing
loss.
